MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Active Membership
In order to be a candidate for Active Membership you must have at least five years full time production experience as a visual effects professional and satisfy one of the following:
Be endorsed by two Visual Effects Society members.
OR
Be a current member of the Visual Effects branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences or be a current member of the Visual Effects branch of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
OR
Have won a VES Award, an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects or won a BAFTA or an Emmy Award for Best Visual Effects.
Associate Membership
Associate Membership in the Visual Effects Society requires a minimum of five (5) years of professional activities involving a close relationship with and exceptional achievements to the field of visual effects, and the endorsement of two existing Members of the Society. Candidates for Associate Membership may endorse two Associate Member candidates. Associate Members, however, may not endorse candidates for Active Membership.
MEMBERSHIP PROCEDURES
Spring Cycle Deadline Tuesday, April 1st, 2008
Fall Cycle Deadline Wednesday, October 1st, 2008
All candidates for membership will be reviewed by the VES Membership Committee.
Applications received from October 2nd, 2007 through April 1st, 2008 will be reviewed by the Membership Committee in April 2008 and sent to the VES Board of Directors for approval at the May 14, 2008 Board of Directors Meeting.
Applications received from April 2nd, 2008 through October 1st, 2008 will be reviewed by the Membership Committee in October 2008 and sent to the VES Board of Directors for approval at the November 12th, 2008 Board of Director Meeting.
Spring Cycle applicants will be notified May 15th, 2008 and Fall Cycle applicants will be notified November 13th, 2008 of the Board decision.
